Lake Elevation 3612
This year we ended up at Rock Creek once again but on the East side for the first time. We found one of the best spots at Rock Creek, on a nice peninsula with sweet soft beach and facing almost due South.
Our vacation commenced as usual with us anchoring the houseboat, using the crane to lower the jet skis and kayaks and setting up our site for the week.
We had a blast!!
Once again Laketime did everything just perfect! Launched us at the exact time we wanted and picked us back up at the exact time we returned. True Perfection!! The houseboat had no major issues and all the comforts of home.
The Dooley rescue team came into action once again this year. We heard a gentleman paging Antelope rentals for a good hour with no response. He kept saying his houseboat was blown sideways (very little wind that day) and was leaking some fluid. He was getting desperate for the sun was starting to set and had never had a response back from Antelope. So I got on the radio and asked where he was. We drove over to his location and quickly assessed the situation. He was not leaking a thing. What he was seeing was a slight foam from the small waves crashing on his beach. We quickly pulled all their anchor lines out of the water and away from their engines and had them start up their engines, moved the boat perpendicular to the beach and redug and retied their anchors for them. They actually had their anchors in the sand at the bow of their boat (hence they blew sideways with a minor 10 mph wind) We showed them how you have to put them at a 45 degree angle from the bow of the boat and tied them off securely. We informed them we made the same mistake our first year.
They offered us a 12 pack of beer which we gladly accepted.
The rest of the week we relaxed with our family, ate some fantastic food and had a blast with our new waverunners. The weather was absolutely perfect every day except Friday.
Friday was a hell of a day! My youngest son's girlfriend could not make it up till Friday so we gladly headed over to Wahweap to pick her and her older sister up at the marina. Well that day it started to rain around 5 am and kept raining all day! The trip to Wahweap was into a 15mph head wind with white caps on Padre Bay. It rained on us the whole way back to Rock Creek too. Lets just say we got a bit wet! I had all my passengers put on trash bags to try to stay as dry as possible. This was the first day it rained all day long on our vacation at Powell! No real hard wind gust just a steady hard rain.
Saturday the weather was perfection once again so we drove over to Rainbow Bridge and showed some of our family members who have never been to Powel this wonderful site.
Damn this trip went once again way to quickly! When we arrived back at Laketime's lot we went and walked through one of their newer boats, Desert Diamond. Hmmm need to start saving up some money!
This years theme was super hero's.
